Lake Louise, part of Banff National Park in the Canadian Rockies, is an amazing glacier-fed lake ringed by high peaks and a sweet chateau. Hiking trails wind up for bird’s-eye views. There’s a canoe dock in summer, and a skating rink on the frozen lake in winter.
Right beside Lake Louise is Moraine Lake, and less than 30 minutes away is Bow Lake. For both Lake Louise and Moraine Lake, you’re encouraged to arrive super early, even before sunrise, for a parking spot.
Of course, you can also ski Lake Louise if you can brave the cold!
Crater Lake in Oregon, USA, is famously known for its deep blue colour and water clarity. Formed by the collapse of the volcano Mount Mazama, the lake is the deepest in the United States measuring nearly 2,000 feet. Be sure to drive the West Rim within Crater Lake National Park, and take the hike down to the lake for a very cold yet refreshing dip.

Crater Lake in Oregon, USA, is famously known for its deep blue colour and water clarity. Formed by the collapse of the volcano Mount Mazama, the lake is the deepest in the United States measuring nearly 2,000 feet. That ranks ninth in the world for max depth, and third for mean depth. No rivers flow into or out of the lake; the evaporation is compensated for by rain and snowfall. This is a must see! Also take a dip in the lake.
